Innovative, New CCH eSign Solution: Now Ready for Form 8879 IRS e-file Signature Authorization
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., March 12, 2014) – The industry-impacting announcement by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), now allowing electronic signatures on Form 8879, which authorizes electronic filing of tax returns, eliminates a cumbersome, time-consuming step – and CCH’s ProSystem fx®Tax solution is ready for the change with new CCH® eSign functionality – integrated with Form 8879. CCH, a part of Wolters Kluwer is a leading global provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services (CCHGroup.com).
“Because Form 8879 needed to be physically signed by the taxpayer on paper, that back-and-forth, last step for e-filing returns was a big hurdle to clear, especially in crunch time,” said Angela Askew, CCH Software Product Manager. “Our advanced CCH eSign solution supports new IRS requirements for Form 8879 – and other forms allowing electronic signatures. The integration of Form 8879 with CCH eSign and CCH’s Electronic Filing Status System simplifies the process for our customers – saving valuable time.”
Secure, Tested, Ready-to-go
In developing CCH eSign, CCH conducted extensive research for determining how to improve communication and collaboration between accounting firms and their clients. Specific focus was on workflow barriers around required Form 8879 authorization signatures from taxpayers before being able to e-file their returns. To help customers cut down on the added time to collect paper signatures, CCH successfully tested electronic signature technology with selected firms and their clients using a highly secure delivery method.
