CCH Accounting Research Manager Provides Everything Needed for Switch to FASB Codification

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., July 1, 2009) – As the FASB Accounting Standards Codification™ becomes the single official source of generally accepted accounting principles for nongovernmental U.S. entities, subscribers to the CCH Accounting Research Manager® (ARM) are finding they have everything they need to use the newly organized body of standards, integrated with their existing libraries. CCH also offers training on how to find answers to accounting questions using ARM and the new Codification. CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business, is a leading provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services (CCHGroup.com).

As of July 1, 2009, the full Codification has been added to any ARM subscription that includes FASB material. Subscribers are able to search the Codification and browse through it using its topical structure. In addition, they have cross-reference tables to pre-codified U.S. GAAP, an archive of FASB data as it existed on June 30, 2009, plus expert interpretive guidance and easy-to-understand summaries keyed to the new Codification. They also have links to valuable “non-authoritative” information that the FASB decided to exclude from the Codification, such as SEC staff speeches.

“Things will look very different for accountants starting July 1,” said CCH Product Manager Rachel Mavrak. “The familiar organization and nomenclature of FASB like ‘FAS 109’ and ‘FIN 48’ disappears. But ARM users have a reliable source for the seamless move to the Codification, fully integrating world class interpretive guidance, other non-authoritative materials, international accounting standards and online training.”

Training Offered

For professionals who want a better understanding of accounting and audit documents, ARM offers a training course on conducting accounting research with ARM’s easy access to accounting, auditing, governmental, SEC authoritative literature and expert CCH interpretive guidance all in one database. Topics include:

  • Structure of the FASB Accounting Standards Codification;
  • Searching the FASB Accounting Standards Codification;
  • Staying current with new developments;
  • Find answers to your questions by utilizing various research methods; and
  • Maximizing research time to enhance results.
