Sales Tax Office From CCH CorpSystem™ Automates Tax Calculation, Returns
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., December 11, 2007) – Leveraging the strengths of its industry-leading research publications and expertise in complex sales and use tax issues, CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business has created Sales Tax Office, a state-of-the-art tax calculation software application for businesses of any size. Part of CCH’s new CorpSystem™ suite of solutions, Sales Tax Office automates the calculation of sales and use taxes. CCH is leading provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services.
Sales Tax Office is a rules-driven system based upon CCH’s industry-leading sales tax rates and taxability content, tax jurisdiction boundary information compiled and maintained through CCH’s unique partnership with First American Spatial Solutions (formerly Proxix Solutions) and sophisticated logic capable of supporting the most complex sourcing and tax calculation rules.
CCH’s easy to use and accurate solutions easily integrate with the leading accounting packages in the market. Sales Tax Office sits within a business’s environment and integrates with its ERP/accounting system to automate the calculation of sales and use taxes. The system is designed to replace the basic tax calculation functionality resident in commercial ERP packages or proprietary tax calculation applications, providing capabilities that are less costly and easier to maintain.
“The system eliminates the need for users to spend time monitoring and updating tax rate and taxability rules for the broad range of products categories covered by CCH’s tax matrix,” said CCH Product Manager Bruce Krumlauf. “At the same time, Sales Tax Office makes it easy to set up and maintain custom taxes, rates and rules as required.”
Scott Walters, of The Gagnon Group, a third-party sales tax consulting firm that conducted an evaluation of Sales Tax Office, notes that the system is flexible yet simple to use.
“The Sales Tax Office product is unique in that its standard features and product tables handle so much of the complicated sales tax universe without user involvement, yet because of its robust algorithms, users can override a given taxability status, by tax authority, without changing the logic of the application or creating a maintenance burden going forward,”
Base System, Optional Modules
A Sales Tax Office base systemis comprised of the Sales Tax Office software; an all-states subscription to general merchandise data; a Subscription Update Manager utility which manages the extraction and delivery of data updates; and web service APIs to facilitate rapid integration with the customer’s ERP/accounting system. The system is bundled with CCH’s award winning Sales Tax Returns Online service and related products to provide a comprehensive end-to-end sales tax compliance solution.
Optional modules include add-on databases covering food, restaurant and durable medical equipment, a Web Service API to Microsoft Dynamics AX™ and a Web Service API for integrating with third party commercial address validation and address scrubbing solutions to support accurate sourcing determination and tax calculations within Sales Tax Office. Onsite training, implementation and consulting services are also available.
Supports Wide Range of Companies
Sales Tax Office can support a wide range of companies from a stand-alone business to multi-billion dollar organizations with hundreds of separate legal entities operating under a broad corporate umbrella. A single instance of Sales Tax Office can support multiple subsidiaries or divisions. This gives system administrators great flexibility in setting user privileges to meet organizational and functional responsibilities.
The overall system design provides a highly intuitive user interface for set-up and maintenance functions, with multiple levels of security and easy access to the business rules that drive the calculation application.
