ProSystem fx Document from CCH Now Manages E-mail for Enhanced Collaboration, Regulatory Compliance

(GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, November 7, 2007) – CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business and a leading provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services now brings enhanced collaboration, better exchange server management and regulatory compliance with e-mail management through its award-winning document management system, ProSystem fx Document (CCHGroup.com). This new functionality was unveiled at the third annual CCH User Conference, held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

“These new capabilities round out our customers’ vision of firm-wide document management, and CCH is pleased to deliver on that,” said Stuart Gill, CCH product manager. “This will benefit accounting professionals, IT managers and a firm’s overall workflow.”

Now, users can drag and drop e-mails directly from Microsoft Outlook® into client folders in ProSystem fx Document – and access Document’s functionality from Outlook, as well. These features are controlled by the security that has been set up in Document.

This enhances collaboration, since client e-mails – and their attachments – are stored in Document where everyone who needs to access them can find them, as opposed to an Inbox where only the receiver has access to this valuable client information. In addition, since e-mails and attachments no longer have to be stored locally, exchange server management becomes easier.

“There will be far fewer instances of professionals being unable to send or receive e-mail because their mailbox is full, and no risk of losing e-mails archived locally through laptop theft or crashes,” Gill noted.

E-mails Subject to Document Retention Policies

Another major benefit of managing e-mails and their attachments through ProSystem fx Document is that they automatically become subject to the firm’s document retention policies. Indexing and storing these e-mails in a single location assists in e-discovery and regulatory compliance by enforcing adherence to defined policies and procedures for the preservation of records and, ultimately, their destruction.

“Partners can sleep better at night knowing that important e-mails aren’t scattered – or even lost – over their networks or on local machines as years go by and personnel change,” Gill observed.
