2007 U.S. Master Wage-Hour Guide From CCH Is an Essential Desktop Reference

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., August 13, 2007) – CCH, a leading provider of business compliance information and a part of Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, has published the 2007 U.S. Master Wage-Hour Guide, an essential desktop reference to federal wage and hour law (hr.cch.com; 528 pages, $89.95).

“The 2007 U.S. Master Wage-Hour Guide distills nearly 70 years of statutes, regulations and rulings into a single, up-to-date volume that clearly answers the questions people ask most about this crucial area of employment law,” said Kristen Kaplan, CCH product manager.

The Guide summarizes the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in its opening chapter. Succeeding chapters demonstrate how the rules apply to particular employment situations and explore practical aspects of employment arrangements in light of the federal wage and hour law. These include how minimum wages must be paid, overtime, equal pay, child labor, homework, garnishment, seasonal workers and family and medical leave.

The 2007 edition also encompasses the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007, which raises the federal rate in three steps, ending at $7.25 per hour on July 24, 2009. Also covered is the U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding the application of the companionship services exemption to home-based caregivers who are employed by third-party agencies and recent developments under the Family and Medical Leave Act.

Statutory, regulatory and case citations are included in the discussions throughout the Guide. References to CCH Labor Law Reports (Wages-Hours) are also provided so readers requiring an in-depth discussion of any point can easily find it.
