Need More Time to File Your Tax Return? CCH CompleteTax Offers Do-it-yourself Taxpayers Filing Extension for 2006 Tax Returns
CCH CompleteTax further expands capabilities, enabling taxpayers to electronically submit extensions for filing their 2006 federal income tax returns.
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., April 6, 2007) – There are early birds that filed their tax returns months ago and then there are those individuals that simply won’t be able to make the April 17 income tax filing deadline. CCH CompleteTax (www.CompleteTax.com) is serving both with its online tax preparation and e-filing service that has been available to taxpayers throughout the tax season and is now capable of helping individuals that need more time to file for an extension, as well as complete their tax returns by the October 15 extension deadline. CCH CompleteTax, from CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business, leverages CCH’s market-leading tax law information and software expertise to provide one of the most comprehensive, easy-to-use online tax preparation and electronic filing solutions.
CCH CompleteTax guides users through the extension process and clearly explains that while taxpayers must file for an extension to avoid penalty or fines, the IRS also requires they pay the amount of income tax due by the April 17 deadline, even though they may not be filing their tax returns for a few additional weeks or months. CompleteTax will automatically fill in relevant information on the Form 4868 used for filing an extension for taxpayers that have started their returns with CompleteTax and are requesting an extension. Individuals that have yet to start their return with CompleteTax, can still use CompleteTax to file for an extension. Taxpayers have the option of letting CompleteTax electronically file the extension form for them, or they can print and mail the form.
“We have already realized a record number of taxpayers preparing and e-filing with CompleteTax this year. Many people need extra time, though, and we want to ensure that we can make their tax preparation easy, affordable and streamlined as well. Our extension service does this by allowing them to file now for an extension and then come back to CompleteTax anytime through October 15, 2007 to complete their 2006 return and file it without penalty or interest,” said Debra Gray, CCH CompleteTax product manager.
Pricing and Availability
CCH CompleteTax extension service for 2006 tax returns is available through Tuesday, April 17, 2007. The cost for the extension service is $9.95. Preparing and e-filing or printing a federal return is $25.95 and a state return is $12.95, with e-filing of both the federal and state return at no added cost.
