CCH CompleteTax Supports Split-refund Initiative
CompleteTax is at the forefront in bringing the new split-refund option to taxpayers that want to prepare and file their own income tax returns.
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., March 21, 2007) – CCH CompleteTax is earning recognition as one of the few online tax preparation and e-filing programs that enables taxpayers to take advantage of the new split-refund option, whereby they can split their refund and direct deposit proceeds in up to three separate accounts. CCH CompleteTax (www.CompleteTax.com) is developed by CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business.
This is the first year that the Internal Revenue Service is allowing taxpayers to designate multiple accounts in which to direct deposit their refund. This can include accounts at not just banks, but also mutual funds, brokerage firms or credit unions choosing to accept direct deposits.
While the IRS is urging taxpayers who have yet to file their tax return to consider the split refund so that they can earmark at least some of their refund for savings or investment for future needs, CompleteTax is among the only leading online tax programs allowing taxpayers this option.
“We are pleased to be on the forefront in this effort. With U.S. taxpayers already receiving more than $117 billion in refunds combined for an average of nearly $2,600 per return filed, this is a significant influx of cash for many taxpayers,” said Debra Gray, product manager for CCHCompleteTax. “We recognize that individuals need the flexibility to best allocate their refund to match their goals, which is why it was a priority for us to ensure CompleteTax had the split-refund capability from the start of this tax season.”
Being out in front with the split-refund option has won CCH CompleteTax recognition by tax and personal finance reporters at leading media, including About.com, TheStreet.com and USA Today.
