CCH Presents Audio Conference: Form 5500 – What You Need to Know for 2006 Plan Years

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., March 14, 2007) – Form 5500 preparers can keep up to date and earn ASPPA continuing education credit by participating in a 90-minute audio conference entitled Form 5500 – What You Need to Know for 2006 Plan Years presented by CCH, a part of Wolters Kluwer Law & Business and a leading provider of business compliance information, software and services. The conference features well-known authority Janice M. Wegesin and will take place on April 19 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Central and 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Eastern (hr.cch.com).

This session will cover the latest information for Form 5500 preparers, including how to deal with special situations, such as plant closings or mergers. The session will also point out the new reporting requirements for Form 5500-EZ filers and the new Form 5500 for employers with less than 26 participants.

Specific topics to be covered include:

  • Latest guidance from the Department of Labor and IRS;
  • How to relate lines on Form 5500 to various schedules; and
  • Changes to Form 5500-EZ reporting.

The conference will include a live question-and-answer session.

About the Speaker

Janice M. Wegesin is president of JMW Consulting, Inc., located in Petoskey, Mich. The firm specializes in compliance work associated with qualified retirement plans and welfare benefit arrangements. Wegesin has more than 25 years of experience in the retirement plan area. In 1998, she was named Educator of the Year by the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA). In 2006, Wegesin was presented with the National Institute of Pension Administrators’ (NIPA) Lifetime Achievement Award and she was honored with ASPPA’s Harry T. Eidson Founders Award. She is a Certified Pension Consultant and an Enrolled Agent, licensed to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Wegesin frequently teaches seminars for pension professionals and accountants on Form 5500 preparation and is author of the 5500 Preparer’s Manual from Aspen Publishers, a CCH sister company. She maintains the Web site www.form5500help.com.
