CCH Enhances Cutting-edge Solution with Latest Version of ProSystem fx Scan
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., January 4, 2007) – CCH has announced the release of ProSystem fx Scan 2.5, the latest version of its award-winning automated document identification tool that enables professionals to easily organize client source documents. ProSystem fx Scan is part of the ProSystem fx Office, an integrated suite of applications that streamlines accountants’ workflow and increases productivity. CCH , a Wolters Kluwer business, is a leading provider of tax and accounting law information, software and services (CCHGroup.com).
“We continue to refine ProSystem fx Scan to keep it on the cutting edge and to meet the ever-changing challenges of the profession,” said Stuart Gill, CCH product manager.
New Version Delivers Enhanced Data Dictionary, Extended Catalog
ProSystem fx Scan version 2.5 combines a powerful database engine with an enhanced proprietary data dictionary that automatically reads and recognizes an expanded list of government forms; organizer forms for ProSystem fx Tax and other vendors; and brokerage statements needed for preparing 1040 income tax returns.
The software then sorts, bookmarks and outputs these documents to a single, easy-to-navigate PDF file, allowing the tax professional to use the many powerful annotation tools provided by Adobe Acrobat. The entire process is fully automated and delivered at a significant savings in both cost and time compared with other options. ProSystem fx Scan, together with PDFlyer provides an extremely efficient system for preparing paperless tax returns. PDFlyer is a powerful and user-friendly Adobe Acrobat plug-in which facilitates working with multiple PDF files in a paperless, dual screen environment.
ProSystem fx Scan 2.5 also offers an extended catalog that identifies and bookmarks over 1,000 forms.
“Even with the significant increase in form recognition that is now available with the new ProSystem fx Scan catalog, the development of the catalog was done with performance in mind,” said Gill.
In addition to the expanded catalog, ProSystem fx Scan 2.5 provides users with the ability to submit forms requesting their inclusion in future catalog versions. Catalog updates will be available by download for installation and use with ProSystem fx Scan 2.5.
The new version also allows users to text encode (OCR) client source documents during the identification process. The results are PDF files that are fully word searchable, eliminating the tedious task of encoding documents manually after completing the scanning process.
Simplification is Key
ProSystem fx Scan 2.5 and PDFlyer 2.5 will utilize the ProSystem fx permkey, eliminating the Internet registration process previously utilized by PDFlyer. Users also now have the ability to manage the license as needed, eliminating the need to contact Customer Support. And, installation of ProSystem fx Scan has been rewritten to simplify the process of installing both Scan and PDFlyer.
“These enhancements to ProSystem fx Scan came about because we believe in forming strategic partnerships with our customers, listening to their needs and building products that truly help them reach their goals,” Gill said. “ProSystem fx Scan 2.5 is another step forward in helping CCH customers move to and operate in a paperless office environment where they can realize new efficiencies and opportunities to better serve their clients.”
