CCH Audio Seminar Will Focus on Tax Provisions of Pension Bill

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., September 6, 2006) – CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business and a leading provider of tax information, software and services is presenting a 100-minute audio seminar entitled “ The Pension Protection Act of 2006 from the Tax Practitioner’s Point of View” featuring Mark Luscombe and John W. Roth, on Wednesday, September 13, at 2 p.m. Eastern, 1 p.m. Central (CCHGroup.com/Audioconferences).

The Pension Protection Act of 2006 represents the most sweeping overhaul to U.S. pension laws in more than 30 years.  But it also contains more than 100 tax provisions affecting tens of millions of taxpayers.

In this audio seminar, CCH’s Mark Luscombe and John W. Roth will review the many changes from the Pension Act that tax professionals need to know about.  Among the topics Luscombe and Roth will cover are:

  • What clients should think about now if they still have defined benefit plans;
  • Why 401(k) plans are now even more attractive;
  • Why it is time to look again at Roth 401(k)s;
  • Why cash balance plans are now more attractive;
  • Some special help for small employers and their qualified retirement plans;
  • Why IRAs are more flexible;
  • More comfort for 529 plans;
  • New client options for tax refunds;
  • New restrictions and reporting requirements for tax-exempt entities;
  • New rules on documenting charitable contributions;
  • New restrictions on donations of clothing and household goods;
  • New rules of conservation and façade easements;
  • New rules on donations of fractional interests;
  • New caution flags on donor advised funds, and more.

The seminar will include a live question-and-answer session.
