CCH Seminars for Accountants Feature Industry Experts
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., May 17, 2006) – Industry experts including Gary Boomer will share their insights on “Leveraging Technology to Drive Your Strategic Advantage,” a three-hour seminar for accounting firms to be held across the country by CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business and a leading provider of tax and accounting information, software and services (CCHGroup.com).

- Gary Boomer, Boomer Consulting
Gary Boomer is the CEO of Boomer Consulting, Inc., an organization that provides strategic planning and consulting services to the leading firms in the accounting industry. Boomer strategies provide a transformation roadmap; team building and excellence while helping you make more money, attract quality people and grow your business. For the past ten years, he has been named by Accounting Today as one of the 100 most influential people in accounting. He consults and speaks internationally on management and technology related topics including strategic and technology planning; compensation; and developing a training/learning culture. He acts as a planning facilitator, provides coaching and serves on many advisory boards. Prior to the development of the company, Boomer was a partner at the regional CPA firm of Varney & Associates.
- Sandra Wiley, Boomer Consulting
Sandra Wiley is the Director of Marketing with the organization of Boomer Consulting, Inc. She is a certified Kolbe™ trainer and assists clients in hiring and building teams within their management and technology staff. She also assists in the facilitation of the Boomer Technology Circles™ and is a facilitator at the Annual Training Symposium™. She has been in the Strategic Coach Entrepreneurial Team Program™ for six years and is responsible for communicating new ideas to the Boomer staff. Prior to joining Boomer, she worked for over 16 years in the financial services industry in the areas of human resources, marketing/sales, training and business development. She has developed and presented over 50 training programs and numerous one-day seminars in the human resources and marketing/sales areas.
- Barry MacQuarrie, KAF Consulting
Barry MacQuarrie, CPA, is the Director of Technology Solutions for KAF Consulting Group. In addition, he is the CIO for an affiliated company, XCM Solutions, which has developed outsourcing and workflow solutions for CPA firms. He has extensive experience working with technologies used by CPA firms including paperless office solutions, workflow applications and document management software. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) for whom he serves on the AICPA Information Technology Executive Committee. MacQuarrie is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), and has been a speaker on the topics of the Paperless Office, Disaster Recovery Planning and CPA Firm Technologies for the AICPA, the MSCPA, CCH, JHI and various CPA associations.
- John Higgins, CPA Crossings
As a former CEO of a technology consulting and training organization, Higgins has more than 20 years experience advising startup and established businesses. Combining his technology expertise with his in-depth understanding of how to grow an organization, Higgins works with clients to develop and implement effective IT strategies. He has authored numerous articles and is a popular speaker, always providing practical and valuable “how to” advice. A Certified Public Accountant, Higgins is a former national practice director of mid-market IT consulting for a top ten accounting and consulting firm. The Michigan Association of CPAs honored Higgins with the Innovative User of Technology Award. The American Institute of CPAs inducted Higgins into their Business & Industry Member Hall of Fame in 2004. Higgins is the 2004 - 2005 Chairman of the Board of the Michigan Association of CPAs.
