CCH Sets New Standard of Intuitive Tax Research with CCH@Hand 2.0

New Functionality Adds Power; New Look Enhances Ease of Use

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., November 15, 2005) – CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business (CCH) and a leading provider of tax and accounting information, productivity software and services, has released Version 2.0 of CCH@Hand™, its breakthrough application that speeds and integrates tax research with the workflows of accountants, tax preparers and lawyers (tax.cchgroup.com).

“This latest release builds on the leading-edge concepts of the award-winning CCH@Hand, but wraps them in a stunning new interface and adds exciting new capabilities,” said Catherine Wolfe, vice president, CCH tax and accounting publishing. “With this release, CCH is setting a whole new standard of intuitive operation in tax research.”

Sleek Desktop Console

CCH@Hand’s new interface takes the form of a sleek new Desktop Console, which launches from the desktop. On the new Desktop Console, four tabs provide a centralized location for CCH@Hand features: Search, Index, Citations, Tracker News and Research Folders.

The Search tab enables searching of any subscribed CCH publication from the desktop, with search results appearing in the Console. Users can click on any of the search results, and the full text of the document appears in the Console, all without opening a browser or signing on.

Search Web, Desktop

What’s more, with CCH@Hand, 2.0 users can search the CCH Tax Research NetWork and simultaneously search the web and the documents on their own desktop with Google ®. The results appear in separate search results lists and any of the documents can be opened within the Console. (Desktop searching requires installation of the Google desktop plug-in available free from Google.)

Thus a single search can find relevant documents on the CCH Tax Research NetWork, the users own research memos and e-mail and the web sites such as the IRS.

“We know that two out of three of our subscribers search the web for tax information,” Wolfe observed. “With CCH@Hand 2.0, we’ve made it possible for the first time to integrate that searching with searches of the Tax Research NetWork, all through the Desktop Console.”

New Look, Familiar Functions

Two of the new tabs deliver familiar functionality within the smooth new look. The Citation Search tab provides an intuitive drill-down to citation templates. The Tracker News tab delivers customized news to the Console and it is integrated with the CCH@Hand News Alert pop-up. Clicking on headlines in the pop-up takes users directly to the CCH@Hand Console to view the entire news document.

Seamless Integration with Microsoft Office

CCH@Hand 2.0 continues to provide special benefits for professionals who have adopted the Microsoft ® Office Professional Edition 2003 suite of products. With CCH@Hand, users never have to leave a Microsoft ® Office 2003 document to conduct their research. They can launch a search directly from within the document, view their results on the same screen, insert results directly into their Office 2003 program, e-mail the results straight to clients or save their results to a variety of locations.

In addition, CCH citation Smart Tags breathe new life into existing electronic documents. The Smart Tags recognize citations in the text of Microsoft ® Word documents and allow users to view the full text of the cited document, retrieve it into a new Word document, retrieve related explanations, regulations, annotations and committee reports from citations to a Code or regulation section and create links in Word documents to the underlying full text on the Tax Research NetWork.
