ChargeMaster Comply from CCH Is a Complete, Convenient, Cost-Effective Way to Update CDMS
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., April 6, 2004) – Hospitals now have a new way to meet the challenge of keeping their Charge Description Masters (CDMs) up to date with Medicare changes, according to CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading supplier of healthcare law information and software. ChargeMaster ComplyTM from CCH is an Internet-based reference that allows hospitals to update their CDMs frequently, quickly and easily.
ChargeMaster Comply contains all of the information needed to update a CDM in one convenient location. Information is updated daily, and weekly E-mail Alerts notify ChargeMaster review staff that a change has occurred and when that change will be effective. Users can immediately initiate a change in their CDM and ensure compliance.
"It’s a complete, convenient, cost-effective solution," said Angela Darrow, marketing manager for CCH. "With ChargeMaster Comply, there’s no need to flip through a number of books that go out of date quickly, hop between multiple government web sites or engage outside costly consultants," Darrow added.
In-Depth Results
ChargeMaster Comply offers a variety of searching techniques and provides in-depth search results.
Code sets and fee schedules can be searched by code number or range of numbers, by code description using a word search, and by the date a code was added, modified or deleted. Search results include revenue codes as well as pay rates and other descriptors including all added, modified or deleted codes.
Code sets and fee schedules include:
- Current Procedural Terminology (CPT©) codes;
- Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes;
- International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) Vols. 1 & 3, Vol. 1 code set is searchable using terminology from Vol. 2;
- Diagnosis-related Groups (DRGs);
- Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs);
- Physician Fee Schedule; and
- Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule.
Individual codes are linked to applicable program memoranda, one-time notifications, official CPT and ICD-9-CM coding guidelines and local coverage determinations (LCDs), giving users primary source documentation at their fingertips. In addition, CPT and HCPCS Codes feature CCI (Correct Coding Initiative) edits and revenue codes.
Search results are downloadable into a Microsoft® Excel or Word format for easy export into a CDM and to facilitate information sharing among the various hospital departments impacted by changes.
In addition, CCI edits allow customers to check a code and see if Medicare requires the coded service to be bundled with any other service.
