CCH INCORPORATED - Press Release

CCH Offers Briefing on Energy Act of 2003

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., November 17, 2003) - After weeks of often acrimonious squabbling, Congress is poised to pass sweeping change to national energy policy under the Energy Act of 2003. The tax provisions in this new Act, over 50 of them in its "Energy Tax Policy Act of 2003" title, have the most direct impact on consumers and industry. The average consumer and the average business can look for new and enhanced conservation deductions and credits for energy-efficient products, appliances and buildings.

An outline and explanation of the bill's provisions is available in a special CCH Tax Briefing at:

http://tax.cchgroup.com/specialReport/energy2003

Provisions of the new bill include:

  • Energy tax credits for homeowners and businesses;
  • Over $18 billion in tax breaks;
  • More than 170 IRC changes;
  • A homeowner energy improvement credit, up to $2,000;
  • AMT relief; and more.
