CC Scientific And Uniform Information Services Join Forces In Spanish Forms Offering

(ACTON, MASS. – March 3, 2003) Uniform Information Services, Inc., a leading provider of regulatory research tools and forms for the property/casualty insurance industry and a division of CCH INCORPORATED, today announced a Strategic Business Alliance with CC Scientific. CC Scientific (Palm Desert, CA) and Uniform Information Services, Inc. (Acton, MA), have entered into an agreement to offer a variety of Spanish forms and posting notices to insurers of Workers Compensation coverage.

The explosion in the size and spending power of the Hispanic population that started more than a decade ago has resulted in an economic force that the insurance industry cannot ignore. The Hispanic population stands at 32.8 million (approximately 12% of the total US population) with a spending power of $540 billion. Projections for the year 2050 show that 25% of the population of the United States is going to be Hispanic.

Some Spanish translations fail because they contain inaccurate passages – errors of fact that may not stand up in court if challenged. Others incorporate literally translated passages, where the words are correct but the meaning is completely wrong. Obviously, the legal ramifications of such inaccuracies could be a problem for an insurance company.

Through the combination of Uniform’s insurance forms expertise and CC Scientific’s translations, the two plan to address this growing need within the insurance industry.
