Journal Of Tax Practice Management From CCH Meets Firms’ Growing Needs

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., November 13, 2002) – Improving the profitability of professional tax firms is the focus of a new, bimonthly journal from CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading provider of tax information and software tax.cchgroup.com. The Journal of Tax Practice Management addresses issues such as client relationships, technology, marketing and sales, human resources, organizational development, compensation and best practices – issues that often determine whether firms realize their potential, but that usually lie outside the core competency of attorneys and accountants. "The leaders of tax practices are finding that they have to devote more and more time to developing deeper client relationships, and they have less time for managing, directing and leading their firms," said Joseph Gornick, an executive editor for CCH’s Federal and State Tax Group.

"Each issue of the Journal efficiently updates them on these crucial issues and also provides cutting-edge information and analysis from professionals with backgrounds in technology, human resources, marketing and other fields that are often crucial to a tax firm’s success in today’s environment," Gornick added.

Expert Guides to a Changing Environment

The Journal of Tax Practice Management helps practitioners – especially accounting and law firms – navigate a complex and changing business environment in order to grow and better manage their businesses. Attracting new clients while retaining existing ones, introducing clients to new services, developing and implementing a long-term strategic plan, improving competitive posture, benchmarking against successful firms, attracting and retaining talented employees and increasing the overall value of the firm are issues that are addressed in each issue of the Journal.

Experts contributing to the Journal of Tax Practice Management are part of a 15-member advisory board drawn from leading consulting, law and accounting firms. Collectively, the contributors and the editor in chief bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to each issue – providing valuable advice of the kind usually obtainable only through costly industry conferences or independent consultants.

In every issue, subscribers receive comprehensive, in-depth articles and columns dealing with cutting-edge issues confronting tax practitioners. For example, among the 11 columns and articles in the inaugural issue, Allan Koltin, President and CEO of Practice Development Institute, Inc., gives his view on the issues of firm structure and governance at Arthur Andersen that contributed to the Enron debacle and how Enron-inspired regulation will influence the practice of accountancy as regards both publicly held companies and closely held firms.

Sam M. Allred, of Upstream Academy, lays out four simple, powerful principles that can improve marketing results. Dale D. Freidig, of The Freidig Group, shows practitioners how to create an effective planning program that looks beyond the firm’s next busy season.
