CCH Offers Accounting Firms Hosted Tax Resource For Their Web Sites

CCH Online Tax Guide 2001 Delivers Easy, Economical Way for Firms to Add Value, Answer Client Questions

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., February 1, 2001) – Accountants looking for ways to deliver more value to their customers, while also reducing time spent on general inquiries, have a new online resource from CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading provider of tax law information and software. Tax Guide 2001, hosted by CCH, provides a source of clear and simple explanations of the tax issues consumers often encounter, along with dozens of examples, tools and other resources.

A prototype of the Tax Guide 2001 is available at http://cpataxguide.cch.com/welcome.asp. Tax Guide 2001 is priced at $495.

"Tax Guide 2001 enables accounting firms to offer a valuable resource to their clients, accessible whenever the clients have questions," said Drew Snider, publisher for CCH Small Office Home Office unit. "At the same time, it can help a firm’s profitability by reducing the amount of time spent responding to clients’ basic tax questions."

A-Z Content on Taxes

Developed by CCH’s team of tax professionals, the online Tax Guide 2001 provides more than 500 pages of fully searchable, easy to understand tax information, starting with the basics of tax planning and record-keeping, through the details of personal tax issues, such as employment income, investments and retirement. Taxes for small businesses are also covered. Additionally, a tax calendar, glossary of terms and tax news are included. Also provided are downloadable tax tools to help clients better organize their tax information.

"One of the most difficult issues for consumers is finding current, reliable information, which is why they often call their accountants even for basic tax issues," said Snider. "Accounting professionals, in turn, have looked to CCH for more than 80 years for tax explanation and analysis. By leveraging our knowledge and making it available to firms in a way that they can easily get to their clients, both accounting professionals and their clients can be assured of accuracy and reliability."

Fully Hosted, Easy to Implement

Hosted on secured CCH servers, the Tax Guide 2001 is customized for each firm, allowing a firm to increase its presence and brand value among clients. The firm’s name and logo appear at the top of each page and links on every page make it easy for clients to return to the firm’s Web site or send emails to their accountant at a click of the button.

The address bar also shows the firm’s URL, making CCH transparent to the clients, while reinforcing to clients that their accounting professional is providing valuable, time-saving assistance.

Implementing the Tax Guide 2001 into a firm’s site also is fast and simple. CCH creates the personalized version of the site, including adding the firm’s name and logo on each page, establishing the link to the firm’s home page and adding the e-mail address for clients to communicate with their accountant.

According to the CCH Accountants on the Internet 2000 study, released by CCH last summer, most large accounting firms already have web sites and about one-half of smaller firms have or plan to create sites this year.

"A tremendous challenge for accounting firms is how to economically leverage their sites to add value and maintain their sites so they remain valuable," said Snider. "Tax Guide provides an effective, affordable addition to a firm’s site, allowing the firm to enhance their professional image by providing relevant, accurate information to clients. Additionally, because CCH handles all aspects of maintaining and updating Tax Guide 2001, the accounting firm can focus its effort on more complex and profitable tax issues."
