Texas, Connecticut, Indiana Join Ranks Of CCH State Tax Guidebooks For 2000

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., February 8, 2000) – Now, tax professionals can find answers they need on the details of taxes for thirteen major states, with the recent addition of Texas, Connecticut and Indiana to the list of CCH State Tax Guidebooks available for 2000 (tax.cchgroup.com/full/bookstore). The Lone Star, Constitution and Hoosier states join California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania in the series from CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading provider of tax and business law information and software.

Many of the CCH Guidebooks are classics that have been relied upon by tax professionals for decades. The popular Guidebook to California Taxes, for example, is in its 51st year.

The Guidebooks offer concise explanations for practitioners working with state taxation. They are designed as quick references, describing the general provisions of the tax laws, regulations and administrative rulings of their respective states. They are useful to tax practitioners, businesspersons and others who file state returns or who are required to deal with state taxes. Comprehensive and authoritative, the Guidebooks are the one source those involved with state taxation need for convenient, timely and accurate answers.

Focused and Comprehensive

Crisp and focused yet comprehensive, each Guidebook presents thorough coverage of the taxes of major interest for each state, with summaries of other taxes such as unemployment compensation, motor vehicle registration and excise taxes. The Guidebooks place particular emphasis on topics such as persons or transactions subject to tax, exemptions, basis and rate of tax returns and payment.

In the 2000 editions, the Guidebooks include special coverage of electronic commerce issues, including tax treatment of prepaid phone cards. Coverage of the taxation of lottery winnings has also been expanded, and there is added focus on increasingly important nexus issues.

Throughout the Guidebooks, references to specific paragraphs in the comprehensive CCH State Tax Reports service assist in further tax research.

The Guidebooks for Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania also provide helpful sections on city taxes.
