CCH INCORPORATED Names Roth As New Vice President, Technology

Blazek Also Moves up at Publishing, Software Company

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., July 20, 2000) – CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading provider of tax and business law information and software, said today that it has appointed John K. Roth to the position of vice president, technology. In addition, the company named Tom Blazek manager of its electronic product development group in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Roth will have responsibility for a wide range of critical, technology-related functions for CCH, which provides more than 700 Internet, CD-ROM and print products to the accounting, legal, securities, financial services, insurance, human resources, healthcare and small business markets. As vice president of technology, he’ll oversee the company’s product development and support; multimedia development; technology services; media neutral publishing; order management, customer service and finance management systems; and publishing services activities.

He succeeds Clyde Seigle who was appointed global chief technology officer for Wolters Kluwer nv, Amsterdam, CCH’s parent company. Roth, currently a resident of Cedar Rapids, will be joining the CCH Executive Group in the company’s Riverwoods, Ill. Headquarters, and his appointment is effective immediately.

Roth has had technology management responsibilities at both CCH’s publishing and tax compliance software operations over the past 11 years, most recently as manager of CCH’s electronic product development group in Cedar Rapids. Roth has also served as assistant vice president of product development and support for CCH Tax Compliance, Torrance, Calif. Other assignments have included assistant team leader in CCH’s editorial organization and manager of practice systems development.

Roth joined CCH when the company acquired TLS, a tax preparation software company, in 1989. He held a number of positions during his 14 years with TLS, including vice president of product development, programming and support.

CCH also said Tom Blazek, CPA, a 10-year veteran of CCH and TLS, will succeed Roth as manager of electronic product development in Cedar Rapids. Blazek most recently worked as product development team leader, developing sophisticated software for securities and human resources research and compliance.

Blazek is a resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
