(CHICAGO, July 12, 2000) – Wolters Kluwer said today that it has acquired DPC Computers, Inc., Monsey, NY, a provider of state and local tax rate information and software. DPC will become part of CCH INCORPORATED, Riverwoods, Ill., a leading provider of tax and business law information and software and a Wolters Kluwer U.S. company. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

DPC’s software provides sales and use tax information and compliance tools covering more than 25,000 state and local jurisdictions in the United States and Canada. Its core software product lines are used primarily by corporations, accounting firms and tax consultants. They include ZIPsalesä Lookup for sales tax look-up and calculation; ZIPsalesä Database for seamless integration of sales tax rate data into a variety of different company systems or spreadsheets; Zipsalesä Zip+4 for identifying rates using the ZIP+4 postal code system; and Tax$olverâ , a sales and use tax form preparation system.

In addition, DPC offers a line of specialized software products for businesses in especially complex sales and use tax environments, including retail, telecommunications (ZIPcommä ), utilities (ZIPutilä ), leasing, food and automobile industries.

Interest in sales and use taxes, especially as they apply to an emerging e-commerce environment, has grown in recent years.

"Accurate and timely sales and use tax information – and the tools to apply that information – are of increasing importance to CCH tax and accounting customers," said Rebecca K. Hensley, president and CEO, CCH. "Most taxing authorities in the U.S. and the organizations selling product and services via the Internet are trying to come to terms with how e-commerce transactions will be taxed. DPC’s products will allow us to meet growing customer demand and ensure that CCH maintains its long-established leadership as the authoritative source of state tax information and compliance tools."

CCH will maintain the DPC software products for subscription sales through its Federal and State Tax Group sales force, as well as use the data and tools to expand and enhance its extensive line of Internet, CD-ROM and print products for the tax and accounting markets.  CCH Federal and State Tax web site can be accessed at http://tax.cchgroup.com.  The DPC web site can be accessed at www.salestax.com.

DPC employs approximately 25 employees in Monsey and the company had 1999 revenues of approximately $4 million.
