2000 tax Guide For Journalists Now Available

Popular CCH Guide Offers Specialized Help for Journalists, Photographers

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., January 10, 2000) - CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading provider of tax and business law information and software, has released the seventh edition of its free, 64-page booklet, CCH Tax Guide for Journalists.

CCH Tax Guide for Journalists was developed specifically for print and electronic news reporters, photographers, freelance writers and others who write for a living. The plain-language booklet has been updated to include changes in the tax laws and regulations from 1999, including those that specifically affect journalists and home office-based professionals who write for a living.

The new edition of the Guide provides quick, easy-to-find information for completing 1999 tax returns. In addition, it provides valuable guidance for the 2000 tax year, including new information for those who maintain a home office, changes in deductions and income tax bracket levels.

Other topics covered in the CCH Tax Guide for Journalists include: business expenses; foreign correspondents living abroad; income from prizes; awards and copyrights; libel insurance; online service fees; strike pay and union dues and home office deductions.

Authored by Susan Jacksack, an CCH attorney analyst and author of Business Owner’s Toolkit Tax Guide 2000, CCH Tax Guide for Journalists also includes a glossary of tax terms and helpful information for tax planning, understanding IRS audits and choosing a tax preparer.

In addition, the booklet outlines helpful, complimentary services CCH provides to working journalists, such as research assistance, access to knowledgeable topic experts, reference materials and fact checking.
