South-Western College Publishing Provides
Comprehensive Online Research Database From CCH INCORPORATED
With West Federal Taxation Series and Other Tax Products
New Online Research Tool Helps Students Prepare for Tax Careers
(RIVERWOODS, IL, October 25, 1999) - South-Western College
Publishing (SWCP), a division of Thomson Learning and a leading publisher of higher
education, business, retail and technology products, has announced an alliance with CCH
INCORPORATED (CCH) to provide SWCP tax publication customers with CCHs U.S.
Master Tax Guide Plus®, a comprehensive and authoritative Internet-based federal tax
research database. CCH, a leading provider of tax law information and software, has served
over four generations of accounting and tax practitioners.
Adding Value to SWCPs Tax Publications
South-Western College Publishing will offer the U.S. Master Tax Guide Plus with
most 2000/2001 editions of its tax products, including The West Federal Taxation Series
(WFT) the higher education tax market leader of over twenty years.
The U.S. Master Tax Guide Plus delivers both CCHs authoritative coverage
of tax information and standard-setting intuitive research capabilities and will enable
students to quickly research topics covered in the SWCPs tax products.
Featuring powerful search tools, the Guide provides real-time access to thousands of
statutory and regulatory documents, Internal Revenue Service issuances and Tax and Federal
Court opinions, as well as the CCH U.S. Master Tax Guide® , the most popular
professional tax reference in the nation for more than 82 years. "This partnership
with CCH gives South-Western College Publishing the ability to offer customers a
comprehensive and authoritative online tax resource," said Jennifer Codner, marketing
manager for tax and accounting at SWCP. "South-Westerns tax customers can now
integrate tax research into any course with unprecedented ease."
Catering to the Needs of Future Tax Professionals
Currently used by over 1,400 colleges and universities nationwide, SWCPs West
Federal Taxation Series (WFT) has been the market-leading tax resource in the higher
education market for two decades. By packaging the WFT Series and other tax products with
the CCH U.S. Master Tax Guide Plus, SWCP hopes to better prepare students for
careers as tax professionals.
"This represents an opportunity for South-Western College Publishing to package
its market-leading higher education tax products with the leading online research database
in order to improve the overall educational experience," said Codner. "This also
reinforces South-Western College Publishings commitment to the future of tax
education."
Customers who package a SWCP tax publication with the CCH U.S Master Tax Guide Plus receive
a 180-day subscription to the online service. The subscription, which normally sells for
$199.00, is available during this exclusive offer for approximately $30.00. This price is
in addition to the purchase price of the SWCP tax product. The customer uses a password,
provided with the tax publication at the time of purchase, to access the U.S. Master
Tax Guide Plus web site. At the Web site, customers will be able to use key words,
article, author and publication names to locate highly specific information regarding all
matters of taxation, tax code and law. All sources provided on the U.S. Master Tax
