CCHs Most Popular
Publications Gain New Power On The Internet Expanded Content, Features Bring
Added Value to Federal, State Tax Research
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., May 4, 1999) The tax, legal
and research professionals most respected and
established resources for tax research just got even
better, according to CCH INCORPORATED, a leading provider
of tax and business law information and software. New
content, enhancements and tools in CCHs Standard
Federal Tax Reporter, Federal Tax Service (FTS)
and its extensive line of state tax reporters were among
the many changes included in the newest version of CCH
InternetSM Tax Research
NetWork™ released today.
"Internet technology brings enormous efficiencies
to tax research," said Catherine Wolfe, director of
marketing, CCH Federal and State Tax (FAST) Group.
"But CCHs reputation and leadership have
always been based on quality content and the value it
brings to professionals. Together, these assets provide
our customers with fast, easy searching and the best
content available."
More Power, Value for Federal Tax Research
Several new features in the Standard Federal Tax
Reporter, the oldest and most comprehensive tax
reference in the country, provide for more powerful,
valuable searching and content.
"Related Links" to Related Documents have
been integrated into SFTR, helping ensure
subscribers dont miss relevant information and
providing easier navigation. A bar with links to Related
Documents now appears automatically in each document
title in SFTR.
As part of its ongoing enhancements to CCH Internet
Tax Research NetWork, CCH has added links between
Explanations, Annotations, the Internal Revenue Code
(IRC), Committee Reports and CCH Annotations. In
addition, Federal Tax Regulations now link to the IRC and
CCH Explanations, and, in turn, Explanations now link to
the IRC and Annotations.
The Standard Federal Tax Reporter in CCHs
Internet libraries also has combined some key documents,
speeding research and improving ease-of-use. Each section
of the IRC and each section of the Regulations now appear
together as one document, respectively. However, you can
link directly to a specific subsection and print each IRC
or Regulation section as one continuous document. All
annotations under any one heading are now combined into
one document, allowing for easier browsing and
comparisons.
Federal Election Toolkit™
Federal Election Toolkit is another new feature
offered by CCH, and is fully integrated into the CCH
Internet Tax Research NetWork. The Toolkit facilitates
the creation of approximately 250 plain paper tax
elections, and is free with any subscription to Federal
Tax Service.
Accessing this helpful feature is easily accomplished
by clicking on Federal Election Toolkit under
Practice Aids within the federal tax library. The menu
allows the subscriber to list elections or search for
them by category, such as partnership or estate, or by
key word. Clicking on the election creates an interactive
election-specific template to allow for taxpayer specific
input and produces a ready-to-file election. A
context-sensitive summary of the tax rules for filing the
election, including a law summary and due dates is
provided, and users can edit the election as an RTF
document to achieve a desired style.
Expanded State Tax Coverage, Features
CCH also expanded its highly regarded Internet library
of state tax reporters, with new content and features
that bring added value and critical timeliness to any
state tax research session.
Users now have access to legislation and regulations
from proposed bill introductions through enactment
for all 50 states. To ensure professionals are
fully informed, subscribers can receive e-mail
notification of introduced legislation or changes in
regulations through CCH® Tax Tracker™.
Also, CCHs popular weekly newsletter, State
Tax Review, has been added to CCHs Current
Features. Superior graphics and easy navigation make it
easy to read and simple to print articles from the
newsletter.
Finally, CCH continues its efforts to expand coverage
of dynamic state tax topics. Tax professionals, attorneys
and librarians will note:
- enhanced explanations and uniform coverage of
property tax across all states, including local
contacts;
- expanded information including
explanations, examples, practice tips and caution
notes on the burgeoning issue of Internet
taxation; and
- new content on the taxation of ATM transactions
and discount purchase cards, including prepaid
telephone cards.
From Professional to Professional
Users of CCHs Federal Tax Service and state
tax reporters will notice the addition of
"visible expertise," with outside author and
practitioner comments integrated into the CCH analysis.
Over 250 authors with practice specialties share their
practical and authoritative comments with their
colleagues. Approximately 4,000 comments now include the FTS
authors names and affiliations indicated in the
Comments sections.
