With Rules,
Strategies, Expert Analysis
(RIVERWOODS, ILL., March 8, 1999)
CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading provider of tax
and business law information, has introduced CCH 1999
Bank Tax Guide, a unique and valuable new desktop
reference offering relevant rules, strategies and expert
analysis on the taxation of banks and thrift
institutions. The convenient, one volume reference
provides expert guidance for bank controllers and
financial officers, as well as CPAs and attorneys with
bank practices.
Authored by Ronald W. Blasi, a noted
expert in the field, CCH 1999 Bank Tax Guide
tackles important banking subjects, such as applying
mark-to-market rules to an institution; determining if S
Corporation status is right for an institution; properly
treating credit card fees, points and non-performing
loans; preventing disallowance of loan origination
expenses; and other day-to-day banking topics.
Beginning with a discussion of entities
subject to bank tax rules, the CCH 1999 Bank Tax Guide
provides thorough coverage of every aspect of bank
taxation, with chapters on accounting for interest, fee
and other income; discounts, points and premium;
securities dealers and investors; modified debt;
foreclosures; business expenses; interest expense;
bad-debt deductions; and acquisitions.
Written in clear, plain-English
language, the Guide contains timesaving tools such
as checklists, worksheets and tables. Cross references to
the Internal Revenue Code, regulations, cases and rulings
are provided and, as a special feature, the recently
released IRS Market Segment Specialization Program
publication on commercial banking.
