CCH INCORPORATED (www.cch.com) is a leading provider of tax and business law information and software.

The company tracks, reports, explains and analyzes tax and related law, producing approximately 700 publications in print and electronic form for accounting, legal, human resources, banking, securities, insurance, government and health care professionals.

History

  • CCH, in its current form, was founded in 1913, the year the U.S. federal income tax was created. However, the company’s roots go back to 1892.
  • It is one of the most respected company names among accountants and attorneys.
  • Historically, the company is known for its authority and accuracy in reporting and explaining tax law. Five generations of legal and business professionals have considered CCH products among the essentials in any office and critical to keeping up with day-to-day changes in tax law.
  • The company always has made its home in the Chicago area and currently is headquartered in Riverwoods, Ill.

n CCH's flagship products include the Standard Federal Tax Reporter, the U.S. Master Tax Guide, CCH Federal Tax Guide, CCH Pension Plan Guide, CCH Federal Securities Law Reports, National Insurance Law Service, Telecommunications Reports and CCH Medicare and Medicaid Guide.

n CCH’s Tax Compliance unit produces ProSystem fx Tax and related software used by professionals for tax preparation, review, compilation, audit and office productivity.

n In 2001, CCH joined with sister company Aspen Publishers, Inc. to create an integrated and comprehensive Destination Site for tax and accounting professionals in North America. Tax.CCHGroup – tax.cchgroup.com – combines the resources of the CCH Federal and State Tax Group, CCH Tax Compliance and Aspen to facilitate the changing way accounting, legal and financial and estate planning professionals work, serve their clients, generate practice revenue and manage their businesses.

Business Organization

CCH is organized in five business groups, with each group focusing on a defined market and subject area:

    • Tax Compliance software
    • Consumer Media Group

Customers

n Primary customers for CCH's tax products are accountants and attorneys in firms and corporations. Other major purchasers of these products are federal and state government agencies, universities and libraries.

n Other customers include professionals in the areas of securities, financial planning, human resources, health care, insurance, financial services, telecommunications and small business.

CCH Professionals

n CCH employs approximately 3,400 people in the U.S.

  • This includes a 600-person editorial staff, most of whom are accountants and/or attorneys.
  • The company has offices in Riverwoods, Ill.; Torrance, Petaluma and Chatsworth, Calif.; Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wichita, Kan.; Atlanta and Roswell, Ga.; St. Petersburg, Fla.; Acton, Mass., New York City and Monsey, NY; and Washington, D.C.

n CCH Publishing staff includes an active news bureau in Washington, D.C.

  • There, beat reporters cover key areas of the nation's government,

including Congress, the Internal Revenue Service and other federal agencies, the Supreme Court and Federal Courts and the White House.

  • CCH also is supported by outside authors and advisors, all of whom are considered notable experts in their respective fields.
