MARK LUSCOMBE, JD, LLM, CPA
PRINCIPAL FEDERAL TAX ANALYST
Mark Luscombe, a CPA and attorney, is the principal federal tax
analyst for the company and is a key member of the CCH Tax
Legislation team tracking and analyzing legislation before Congress.
Luscombe is the current developments chair of the Partnership
Committee, American Bar Association Tax Section and regularly speaks
on a wide range of tax topics. In addition, Luscombe co-authors a
biweekly tax column for the respected professional publication, Accounting
Today, and authors a monthly column for Taxes magazine.
Prior to joining CCH, he was in private practice for 20 years with
several Chicago-area law firms where he specialized in taxation.
Luscombe offers a thorough understanding and analysis of federal
tax, its application and its impact on both the individual and
corporate taxpayer.
MILDRED CARTER, JD
FEDERAL TAX ANALYST
Mildred Carter is an attorney with extensive background in
federal tax analysis, and specific expertise in
individual and small business tax planning issues. As a senior
federal tax analyst, she has co-authored CCH's Year-End Tax
Strategies and contributes to one of the most popular tax
professional references in the country, the CCH Federal
Tax Service.
Concentrating on the impact of federal tax laws, Carter provides
in-depth explanations and analysis of tax law provisions.
JOHN W. ROTH, JD, LLM
FEDERAL TAX ANALYST
John W. Roth is a tax analyst specializing in the day-to-day
application of tax law across a wide range of tax topics. He
provides practical insight and guidance into how tax laws apply to
individuals, corporations and special entities. Roth was also
a contributing author to CCH’s Guide to Car, Travel &
Entertainment and Home Office Deductions. He joined
CCH from a national tax service where he was responsible for its
premier tax preparation services and trained other employees for the
company’s advanced services.
Roth provides an excellent understanding of the practical
application of the complex requirements of federal tax laws.
DUNCAN ROUTH, MBA
Duncan Routh is the founder and former CEO of GainsKeeper, the
industry-leading tax lot accounting service acquired by CCH in
December 2002. He is now General Manager of CCH-GainsKeeper.
CCH-GainsKeeper serves fund companies, brokerages, financial
advisors and individual investors, providing automated cost basis,
capital gains and Schedule D tools. Routh was formerly a portfolio
accounting manager and retail brokerage director for high net worth
clients at Fidelity Investments.
Routh offers expertise in portfolio accounting, the impact of
corporate actions and wash sales on investments, and the opportunities
investment managers, including mutual funds, and individual investors
have to improve their after-tax investment returns.
ESTATES, WILLS AND TRUSTS
BRUNO GRAZIANO, JD, MSA
ESTATE AND GIFT TAX ANALYST
Bruno Graziano is an attorney with a master’s degree in
accountancy and is a senior analyst for CCH’s Financial and Estate
Planning Group. A CCH employee for 15 years, he oversees the editors
and analysts responsible for two of the most respected CCH
subscription products, Financial and Estate Planning and Estate
Planning Review. Prior to joining CCH, Graziano was an assistant
attorney for an Illinois municipality.
Graziano has a detailed knowledge of gift and estate taxation,
wills, trusts and related tax law.
STATE TAXATION
JOHN LOGAN, JD
STATE TAX ANALYST
John Logan is an attorney and senior state tax analyst who has
spent 15 years tracking and analyzing state tax statutory and case
law, as well as state tax regulatory policy. He is a senior editor
of CCH's State Tax Review, a weekly newsletter that reports
on tax news at the state level, and a contributor to CCH's State
Tax Reporters, State Tax Guide and State Tax Cases
Reporter.
Logan has a thorough understanding of the various state taxes
imposed, as well as taxation trends across all states.
IRAS, 401(K)S AND PENSIONS
NICHOLAS KASTER, JD
IRA/PENSION ANALYST
Senior analyst for the CCH Pension Plan Guide, Nicholas
Kaster is a 21-year employee of CCH’s Human Resources group and he
tracks and analyzes the impact of federal tax legislation on
individual and group retirement plans. Co-author of the new book Saving
for the Future: Roth and Traditional IRAs, he is
considered one of the country’s most noted experts on Roth IRAs.
An attorney, Kaster is a contributing editor to the CCH 2002
U.S. Master Pension Guide and is author of A Guide to SIMPLE
Plans and Roth IRAs After the 1998 Tax Law Changes.
Kaster’s extensive expertise covers a broad range of
pension-related information, including IRAs, qualified plans and
SEPs
GLENN SULZER, JD
401(K)/PENSION LAW ANALYST
Glenn Sulzer, an attorney and pension law analyst, has been
explaining pension law developments to CCH subscribers for 16 years.
As a senior analyst specializing in 401(k) plans, Sulzer authored Working
with 401(k) Plans and developed and edits the CCH Guide to
401(k) Plans. He also is a leading contributor to the CCH
Pension Plan Guide, CCH 2001 U. S. Master Pension
Guide and the CCH Law and Explanation books on pension
and tax legislation. Sulzer is co-author of the new CCH book Saving
for the Future: Roth and Traditional IRAs.
Sulzer offers detailed understanding of and extensive insight into
the complexities of 401(k) plans and pension law.

PAUL N. GADA, JD, LLM, MBA
SMALL BUSINESS TAX ANALYST
Paul Gada is an attorney specializing in federal tax as it applies
to small businesses and their owners. A tax analyst for CCH’s
highly regarded Business Owner’s Toolkit (www.toolkit.cch.com)
and the CCH Financial Planning Toolkit (www.finance.cch.com),
his work covers a wide range of tax topics, including individual and
corporate income, expenses and deductions, employment taxes, benefits
and estate tax. His CCH experience includes specialization in taxation
of exempt organizations and state tax.
Gada regularly tracks tax legislation and provides specialized
analysis and insight into its impact on small business owners.

SMALL BUSINESS ANALYST
Alice Magos has over 38 years of experience running the
operations of numerous small businesses. A senior small business
analyst for CCH, she is the author and advisor behind CCH
Business Owner’s Toolkit’s popular column, "Ask
Alice!" In addition, she served as a member of Home Office
Computing’s expert team of advisors. Alice is an accountant
and Certified Financial Planner and was on the team that developed CCH
Business Owner’s Toolkit and the CCH Financial Planning
Toolkit.
Magos is a nationally recognized expert on subjects that help
