CCH Issues New Post-election Tax Briefing Examining Issues, Deadlines, Tough Tax Policy Negotiations

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., November 8, 2012) – With President Obama’s re-election now in the books, the picture for future tax policy influence from the White House is clear – but the clock has started for Democrats and Republicans to hammer out agreements on several time-sensitive tax issues to avoid “the fiscal cliff” and lay a foundation for long-term tax reform. CCH has released a new Tax Briefing entitled, Post-Election Tax Policy that clearly examines each of the significant tax issues, potential impacts on taxpayers and looming deadlines on the horizon. CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business is a leading global provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services (CCHGroup.com).

“The table is now set for Congress to make critical decisions on the fate of the Bush-era tax cuts, around $100 billion in automatic spending cuts in 2013 and dozens of expiring tax extenders, including the alternative minimum tax (AMT) patch benefitting tens-of-millions of taxpayers,” said CCH Principal Federal Tax Analyst, Mark Luscombe, JD, LLM, CPA. “With less than two months before end-of-year deadlines trigger action that may significantly impact taxpayers and our entire economy, lawmakers have a very tight window of time to settle longstanding differences.”

The new Tax Briefing is available by clicking here: Post-Election Tax Policy. You may also visit CCHGroup.com/Legislation to access the full range of CCH Special Briefings on significant tax developments.
