AutoCheck Tool for CCH Accounting Research Manager Speeds Disclosures for Financial Statements

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., January 26, 2010) – Now it’s easier than ever to assemble and work through a checklist of relevant disclosures for financial statements with a new online tool on the Accounting Research Manager® (ARM) from CCH. AutoCheck Disclosures Checklist allows users to customize and tailor the popular ARM Checklist and simplify the complex process of preparing financial statements. CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business is a leading provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services (CCHGroup.com).

“AutoCheck is the optimal tool to ensure disclosures are complete and accurate,” said ARM Product Manager Rachel Mavrak. “It saves valuable time by locating the right disclosure requirements quickly and then provides line-by-line disclosure guidance and forms that can be filled in on-screen or printed out.”

With AutoCheck, users have access to a centralized source of the required and recommended GAAP disclosures currently in use, updated quarterly and following the format for the FASB Codification.

Answers to initial questions automatically tailor the scope of the checklist to a particular client.

“Just answering simple questions such as the accounting period end date and whether the financial statements are for a public entity allows users to quickly trim hundreds of non-relevant disclosure items from their checklist,” Mavrak said.

For each disclosure, a “Sources” tab displays references to authoritative sources while a “Links” tab displays links to ARM explanations, providing in-depth analysis of the disclosure requirements.

As work progresses, AutoCheck highlights unanswered questions and can highlight preparer comments for the reviewer.

When disclosures are complete, users can roll forward checklists, keeping only the information they want to reuse. Special options also allow users to choose exactly what they wish to print, easily selecting only those disclosures containing comments, for example.
