CCH Learning & Development Academy Offers Integrated Training for Firms of All Sizes

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., September 14, 2009) – Now accounting firms of any size can adopt a big-firm approach to educating their professional staff. The CCH Learning & Development Academy combines technical accounting, software and professional skills training into single, integrated, workflow intensive programs tailored for specific organizational roles. CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business, is a leading provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services (CCHGroup.com).

“Many firms have to patch together training from a mix of different sources – taking a high revenue earner out of the field to run a class, getting software training from vendors, signing up for accounting webinars – and it’s rarely the same mix from one year to the next,” said CCH Senior Manager, Training and Consulting, Rhett Molitor. “The Academy is more efficient on firm resources and more effective on firm realization, addressing the needs of each level within a firm through role-based programs. In addition, standardization ensures that firms have an employee pool with the same base set of skills and knowledge.”

Completely integrated with CCH software and content products, Academy instructors remain current on software best practice integration and processes as well as applicable rules, regulations and standards, so CCH can be the single source for a firm’s software, content, research and educational needs.

Upon proper completion of the Academy program, students ranging from new staff to managing partners will hit the ground running with current, real-world education and experience utilizing all the software, content tools and soft skills necessary to perform their jobs. Graduates will earn Certifications and become a part of the Academy Alumni Community where technical and business knowledge is discussed and shared.

School of Audit Offers Four Levels

The first offering of the Academy is a School of Audit, offering two- to four-day sessions for four staff levels, from first-year staff to seniors and above.

Each level is an entirely hands-on program with real life workflow exercises. Students will tackle tasks, processes, issues and concerns similar to what they would experience “in the field.” Examples of some topics covered include: technical skills such as auditing various account types in an audit, sampling, understanding the risk assessment standards and understanding and testing internal controls; software skills such as building worksheets with CCH ProSystem fx Engagement; and professional skills such as expectations of an accounting professional, proper written and verbal communication, how to efficiently work with staff, managers, partners and clients.

Academy programs can be experienced in two different formats, depending on the size of the accounting firm and/or number of staff/associates who require instruction. Firms with less than five staff/associates for a given program should choose the Regional Multi-Client (Regional) format, which is priced per student/program. Firms with more than five staff/associates for a given program should consider an on-site format as it may be a more cost effective solution.

“The audit courses are a great way for a firm to make sure everyone on their audit team knows the skills appropriate to their roles, and for firm members to pick up valuable CPE credit,” Molitor observed.
