CCH Presents Audio Seminar: Clergy and Taxes: Compliance and Planning, Issues and Opportunities

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., March 18, 2008) – CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business and a leading provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services is presenting a two-hour audio seminar entitled Clergy and Taxes: Compliance and Planning, Issues and Opportunities on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 1 p.m. Eastern; noon Central, 10 a.m. Pacific (CCHGroup.com/AudioSeminars).

“There are more than 420,000 members of the clergy in the United States, but unfortunately, too often, their tax returns are improperly prepared and don't take full advantage of the tax laws,” said Joseph Gornick, CCH seminar manager. “In this seminar, Lawrence Dresner, an acknowledged expert in the field, will share his insights on the unique tax situations that must be addressed in serving this significant group.”

Program Agenda

In the program, Dresner will discuss the major tax issues involving clergy and their advisors: the IRS’ definition of clergy; clergy’s dual tax status as it affects withholding for employment taxes, Social Security and Medicare; qualified and non-qualified services; parsonage issues; accountable and non-accountable plans for business-related expenses; the “Deason Rule”; 403(b) Church Plans; and retirement plan distributions.

In addition, the presentation time will include ample opportunity for participants to ask their most pressing questions to Dresner.
