Coding expert Leonard Womack, founder of the ChargeMaster Institute, will present the concepts essential to understanding the coding structure used by healthcare providers in all patient settings.

Coding for Non-coders is an opportunity to gain a basic understanding of the coding systems used to report patient conditions and services. This seminar is intended for those who are new to coding concepts or those who wish to refresh or broaden their understanding.

The questions answered in this audio seminar are applicable to a basic understanding of coding, including:

  • Why are codes used?
  • How can I identify which code set I am looking at?
  • When are the various code sets required and used, and does patient setting matter?
  • Are there rules that dictate/mandate proper or accurate code use?
  • What resources are available to obtain the definition for a code set?

Codes to be covered include:

  • ICD-9 Codes – Diagnosis/Treatment
  • DRG Codes
    • HCPCS Codes
      • CPT (Level I HCPCS)
    • Category 1 – 3 Codes
  • HCPCS Level II
  • Revenue Codes
  • Modifiers
