CCH Continues to Enhance Tax Research Consultant, Expand Tax Research NetWork

(BOCA RATON, FLA., November 1, 2006) – CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business and a leading provider of tax information, software and services, today announced several enhancements to its highly successful web-based federal tax research product, the Tax Research Consultant, and the addition of several specialty titles to the system that delivers its Internet content, the CCH Tax Research NetWork (CCHGroup.com).

The CCH Tax Research Consultant is an online resource that combines the best traditional fine-grained research capabilities with a practice-oriented approach to tax research online.

“In addition to authoritative content, we’ve now optimized time-saving tools that speed researchers to their specific end results – not just theoretical answers, but answers they can immediately share with their clients,” said Jane Hoffman, CPA, CCH product manager.

Throughout the Tax Research Consultant are Interactive Research Aids that go beyond stating the rules to applying them. In October of this year, 20 new research aids were added, bringing the total to over 70. New Interactive Research Aids include decision trees for the Section 199 deduction, depreciating property acquired under Sections 1031 and 1033 and electing out of Subchapter K, interactive examples on determining the amount of charitable contribution for appreciated property, determining income inclusion on group-term life insurance and computing casualty or theft losses.

In addition, users can now e-mail, download and save the conclusion screens, related calculation spreadsheets and decision paths they achieve with the tools.

“Finding the law is just the beginning of tax research,” said Hoffman. “The law has to be applied to the facts of the clients’ situations and the results have to be communicated. With these tools, practitioners can drive their research through to end results more quickly and efficiently.”

Specialty Libraries Added

CCH also announced the addition of several specialty libraries to the Tax Research NetWork.

“Specialty libraries feature in-depth coverage of a topic. They may contain authoritative treatises, our exclusive SmartCharts that compare tax features across jurisdictions and other tools that provide practitioners with one-stop access to what they need and speed them to results,” said Nancy Zukowski, director of product management, research and publishing for CCH. “In addition, users of specialty libraries can link to the Internal Revenue Code, regulations and cases mentioned in their specialized materials.”

The latest libraries to be added to the Tax Research NetWork are Taxation of Financial Products and State Business Incentives. Earlier this year, CCH released libraries devoted to mergers and acquisitions, wealth management, property taxes and California taxation.

“We’re continuing to invest in the Tax Research NetWork because it has proven itself as a powerful, flexible tool for pin-point, specialized research as well as broad coverage of the vast world of tax,” Zukowski said.
