Wolters Kluwer Acquires Energy, Environment Publications From Cutter Information Corp

(CHICAGO, December 7, 2001) – Wolters Kluwer North America said today that it has acquired Cutter Environment, a division of Cutter Information Corp., Arlington, Mass. The division, which publishes newsletters and special reports, will be integrated into Aspen Publishers, New York City, a provider of legal and business information and a Wolters Kluwer North America company. Terms of the agreement were not announced.

Cutter Information Corp. provides publications, databases, advisory services, consulting and training on a range of engineering, environment and business topics. Cutter Environment publishes several highly respected professional newsletters, including Energy Design Update, Oil Spill Intelligence Report, Global Environmental Change Report and Business and the Environment, as well as special reports and topical annual reports on related topics.

With the acquisition, Aspen will further leverage its position in key vertical markets. The company currently publishes a number of environment and related compliance titles, including: RCRA Regulations and Keyword Index, Hazardous Waste Consultant, Air Pollution Consultant and OSHA Compliance Guide.
