Online Store For Business Professionals Offers
Quick, Secure Way To Buy From CCH

(RIVERWOODS, ILL, June 12, 2000) – It’s become easier than ever to find and purchase the leading and authoritative information products in the fields of tax, business, financial services, human resources and health law with the inauguration of the CCH Online Store (http://onlinestore.cch.com), an e-commerce feature from CCH INCORPORATED (CCH). The Online Store makes it easy to identify resources that meet the needs of professionals for top-quality information and analysis and then purchase those resources quickly and securely over the Web.

"CCH’s new, one-stop store delivers speed, convenience and security to our customers, whether they are looking for a very specific CCH product, or if they wish to see everything CCH has to offer on a topic across a very wide range of product offerings," said CCH Chief Operating Officer Hugo Van haecke.

Browse or Search For Products

Visitors to the Online Store can browse through CCH offerings or can search for products by entering words and phrases on a template.

The first step in browsing is to select one of the CCH business units, such as Business and Finance. The main page for that unit appears, containing a general description of the types of products offered, lists of best sellers and any special offers in effect. A menu for further browsing also appears, listing categories such as banking, securities and so on. Choosing a category brings up a list of individual products, each with its own explanatory page.

The pages for individual products contain content descriptions (usually including tables of contents), media specifications, pricing information (including quantity discounts), lists of related products and any special offers or demos available. At this time, CCH book products can be purchased directly from the Online Store. For more complex subscription products that currently cannot be purchased online, a phone number and a template for contacting a CCH sales representative are provided.

Searching Can Be Broad or Focused

Shoppers who use the search facility can choose to search all CCH products or can "scope" their search to the offerings of a single business unit, such as Human Resources, Federal and State Tax or Business and Finance.

For example, searching all CCH products for the word "withholding" currently produces a list of 18 books, loose-leaf reporters and online services from CCH’s Tax and Human Resources units that address a wide range of withholding tax issues. By contrast, scoping a search to specific subject areas will produce shorter, more focused lists of products. For example, searching for "transfer" can produce a list of products focused on asset transfers when the search is scoped to the Health and Medical area, transfer pricing (Federal and State Tax) or securities transfers (Business and Finance).

Transactions Use Shopping Cart Model

The site uses the increasingly familiar and popular "shopping cart" model to effect transactions. Visitors place desired items into a virtual shopping cart, and then either continue to shop or proceed to check out. The contents of the cart can be examined at any time, and shoppers can increase or decrease the quantities of items or remove them from the cart entirely.

When shoppers have everything they want in their cart, they proceed to the "checkout" page. Here, they enter billing and shipping information, including their choice of shipping method – one of seven choices ranging from 5-7 day services to next-day delivery. Purchases can be billed to Visa®, MasterCard® or American Express®, or to the shopper’s CCH account.

Transactions at the CCH online store take place over a secure server with VeriSign™ assurance, which provides users with a means to verify the identity and security of the site.

Easy Access

The Online Store has its own web address – http://onlinestore.cch.com – but also can be reached from the main CCH web site, www.cch.com. In addition, the Online Store is accessible on each CCH business unit site – Business and Finance (http://business.cch.com), Federal and State Tax (http://tax.cchgroup.com), Health and Medical (http://health.cch.com), Human Resources (http://hr.cch.com), and Small Office/Home Office (www.toolkit.cch.com).
