Customization, Flexibility Mark Newest Enhancements For Standard-setting CCH® Internet Research Network™

(Riverwoods, ILL., May 22, 2000) – Extensive customization and even greater flexibility are the key words that describe a newly enhanced CCH Internet Research NetWork (CIRN), available this month from CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading provider of tax and business law information and software. Legal, accounting, human resources/benefits, healthcare, securities and banking professionals and others who subscribe to the standard-setting Internet service now can create a customized "My CCH Desktop Favorites" page, perform more actions from their desktops prior to logging in and find new options for viewing documents and search results.

The enhancements cover CCH’s entire Internet-based product line on an exclusive array of topics, including:

  • Business and Finance Law (http://business.cch.com) – securities, banking and financial services, capital changes, credit regulation, government contracts, insurance, trade regulation, telecommunications
  • Health, Medical and Entitlements (http://health.cch.com) – Medicare/Medicaid; healthcare compliance; food, drug and cosmetics; state health law; home care providers
  • Human Resources Law (http://hr.cch.com) – pensions/benefits, payroll, employment law, HR management, Social Security/unemployment insurance, sexual harassment prevention, e-training, worker’s compensation/safety
  • Tax Law (http://tax.cchgroup.com) – federal taxes, state/local taxes, international taxes

"These new features, especially the ‘My CCH’ enhancement, allow the researcher to create a more efficient desktop system, custom designed for his or her approach to research and practice needs. CCH continues to combine the standard for authoritative Internet-based research with a strong focus on flexibility and personalization," said CCH’s Cathy Wolfe, director of marketing, Federal and State Tax Group.

‘My CCH’ Page

The most striking enhancement to CCH Internet Research NetWork (CIRN) is the ability for users to populate a new "My CCH" page with their favorite research publications from the extensive business law libraries offered on the Internet service. A practitioner might place securities and banking research publications on the "My CCH" page, for example. Those publications can then be searched individually or in any combination. Someone working in an area such as payroll, pensions or Medicare can place both their research publications and related forms on their "My CCH" page.

The "My CCH" page also can hold news services customized to the user’s individual interests, plus a set of research tools and links to other CCH sites and services. In addition, "My CCH" can hold the documents retrieved in research sessions, which now can be stored in multiple "keep lists" and assigned to multiple research folders. A list of recent searches is also available, making it simple to revisit results and rerun searches.

Login Express, Seamless Integration

Additional new features will be evident from the moment professionals log in with CCH’s "Login Express" facility. Researchers not only can bypass the regular login screen, but also can initiate searches, specify a document to be retrieved or launch their customized news page at the same time they connect to the Internet.

Users of Microsoft Word® versions 97 and higher even can use Login Express to create hotlinks between citations in Word documents and the full text of materials on CIRN.

Users also can start CCH CD-ROM research services from the Login Express, further enhancing the seamless integration between CD-ROM and Internet-based research.

More Help Options

CCH also has expanded and improved the types of help available to users of the CCH Internet Research NetWork. The basic help system now allows users to search for answers and view help topics without leaving their CIRN screen. Power Search classes give detailed instruction in the best search techniques and strategies, while a new Search Tips Archive provides short, practical pointers about searching by using a question-and-answer format. In addition, CCH offers tele-training classes through which users can earn CPE credit. These help options can be accessed from the user’s new "My CCH" page.

More Display Options

CCH Internet Research NetWork users will now find that all of their search terms will be highlighted in yellow within documents. They also will be able to sort the results of searches by publication if they prefer, rather than by the relevancy ranking that is set as the default. Like the settings for other search and display options, this preference can be conveniently accessed from the "My CCH" page.
