New Cyber Strategies™ Journal From CCH Explores Intersection Of Law, Business, Technology

(RIVERWOODS, ILL., September 10, 1999) – In today’s competitive and fast-changing business world, technology issues can’t be consigned to the IT department anymore. To help business leaders and their advisers stay on top of emerging technologies and maximize the strategic advantage of information and technology assets, CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading provider of business and regulatory law information, has introduced Cyber Strategies™—at the Frontier of Law & Business. The new quarterly journal provides a unique perspective on technology for both the business lawyer and corporate executive, covering the intersection of technology, business and legal concerns to help guide companies through today’s technology with business savvy and legal know-how.

"In the last century, whole new bodies of law and business practices sprang up to cope with the realities of the industrial revolution and the rise of railroads and corporations," said CCH acquisitions editor Karen Clanton, JD. "Today, businesses and the law are trying to cope with the many ramifications of information technology. Cyber Strategies identifies and clarifies emerging issues in the field and explores the legal and business challenges that new technologies pose."

Focus on Emerging Trends, Effective Strategies

In the new Cyber Strategies journal, columnists from leading U.S. and international law firms, technology consulting firms and corporations will analyze trends in such areas as electronic commerce, intellectual property, information technology, privacy and data management, providing best practices and effective strategies. Each issue will offer a multidisciplinary exploration of a single theme, with attorneys, technology professionals and corporate information officers all contributing their unique points of view to the CCH journal.

With the Year 2000 looming ahead, the inaugural issue of Cyber Strategies focuses on Y2K issues, asking what can be done now to prepare for "the morning after." The issue lays out the best practices and alternative approaches to some of the more vexing Year 2000 concerns, and also addresses the legal issues of how to minimize the impact of potential litigation, take advantage of litigation alternatives and document Year 2000 efforts to optimize dispute resolutions.

Future issues will focus on legal and business challenges in areas such as knowledge management, data privacy and computer security.
