CCH Guide To State Telecommuniations Law Offers Unparalleled Electronic Coverage

(Riverwoods, ILL., February 4, 1999) – Now, there is a single, electronic source for the state laws and regulations that govern telecommunications, according to CCH INCORPORATED (CCH), a leading provider of business and regulatory law and information. The CCH Guide to State Telecommunications Law, now available on the CCH Internetsm Research Network (http://business.cch.com), CCH Online and CD-ROM, provides a critical combination of practical advice and primary statutory and regulatory authority in this rapidly changing, contentious arena.

The Guide provides thorough coverage of all the state laws governing the telecommunications industry, from the prerequisites of doing business in each state through applications, reporting requirements, rates, services and consumer protections.

In addition to the "basic" law on public utilities, CCH Guide to State Telecommunications Law includes important supplemental material from states’ government, civil, criminal and welfare codes that affect telecommunications providers, such as requirements to locate "deadbeat" parents or to cooperate in wiretaps.

"With the passage of the federal Telecommunications Act of 1996, state regulation of telecommunications moved from the back to the front burner," said Pam Maloney, managing editor of CCH's Business Regulation Group. "CCH Guide to State Telecommunications Law is designed to be an essential resource for those who wish to maintain or extend their franchises, or enter new markets."

Uniform Arrangement, Full-Text Coverage

Explanations, regulations and statutes for each state are arranged in hierarchical menus so that users can readily locate what they are looking for, even without a citation or using search syntax. The uniform arrangement makes it easy to locate similar provisions in the codes of different states, facilitating comparison.

Explanations are electronically linked to underlying regulations, statutes and applicable forms. Also, all versions of the CCH Guide to State Telecommunications Law include the full text of the 1934 and 1996 federal telecommunications acts.

In addition to hypertext linking, CCH software supports simple and complex searches and retrieval by citation.
